Class of 1974

How has Triton College made an impact on your life?
Triton opened my eyes to new horizons and possibilities. My time there was a turning point for me. I didn’t care too much for school, and I wasn’t sure if it was for me. My Triton experience used my talents that I didn’t know existed and created what is now my love for learning. It also made me want to change my career and life goals, which has been to help people. My time there led me to what is now my reality.

John Millner has dedicated his life to public service in the state of Illinois. After graduating from Triton College with an Associate in Science degree in Police Science Administration in 1974, Millner continued his education by earning a Bachelor’s degree in Social Justice from Lewis University and a Master’s degree in Law Enforcement Administration from Western Illinois University. He credits Triton for sparking his lifelong love for learning.

Millner had a 30 year career with the Elmhurst Police Department serving as chief of police for over 16 years. In 2002, he was elected State Representative for the 55th District in Illinois and in 2005 was elected State Senator for the 28th District. Millner served for over 8 years as a state legislator before retiring in 2013. He is currently president of John J. Millner and Associates, Inc., a small firm specializing in business development, governmental consulting and lobbying. He also teaches as an adjunct professor and instructor at educational institutions and corporations across the country.
