Triton’s Men’s Basketball Team Concludes Successful Season

The Triton men's basketball team provided another season of excitement and pride to the campus community. The Trojans finished with a 30-3 record after their playoff run concluded in a hard fought 89-83 overtime loss in Saturday's Region IV Championship game versus tournament host Waubonsee Community College.

Sophomore and NJCAA All-American candidate Dante Thorpe (Washington D.C.) hit a game-tying three pointer with six seconds left in regulation to force the extra session for Triton. Thorpe led the way with 32 points on 12-of-21 shooting from the field, including five three-pointers in his final game in a Trojan uniform.

Deonta Terrell (Farragut) finished in double-figures with 14 points and nine rebounds. Johnny Fox (Hales Franciscan) added 13 points and nine boards.

Notable accomplishments for Triton this season are highlighted by winning it's fourth consecutive North Central Community College Conference (N4C) title with a perfect 14-0 conference record. Head Coach Steve Christiansen was named N4C Coach of the Year and passed Rich Maack to become the winningest coach in men's basketball program history.

Thorpe was selected to both first team All-Region IV and All-N4C along with taking home N4C Player of the Year honors. Terrell was also a first team All-N4C selection and Matt Johnson (Stevenson) was named second team All-N4C.
