    Robert Ross, 1975 Triton Graduate, Dedicated to Serving Others

    Robert Ross has been committed to serving others throughout his academic and professional life. Whether it was serving as a student senator at both Triton College and the University of Illinois at Chicago, or as an attorney assisting clients with preparation and administration of wills and trusts, business law or commercial real estate transactions, Ross is dedicated to helping those around him.

    After graduating from Triton College in 1975 with an Associate in Science degree, Ross went on to pursue a bachelor’s degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago and later earned a law degree from DePaul University in 1980. Ross worked for numerous firms specializing in business law, commercial real estate transactions, estate planning and civil litigation before opening his own firm, the Law Offices of Robert J. Ross, in 1986. His professional accomplishments include bar admissions to the Supreme Court of Illinois, the United States District Court, Northern District of Illinois and the United States Supreme Court, in addition to memberships and honors from numerous professional organizations. Ross is married to his wife of 35 years and has four children.

    What have been some obstacles you’ve had to overcome in pursuit of your educational and career goals?
    Some of the obstacles I’ve had to overcome in pursuit of my goals included being one of the first college graduates among my extended family; the balancing act of working part time jobs, studying, taking classes and socializing and continuous long work hours and demands.

    What have been some sources of inspiration both in your career and in your life?
    My sources of inspiration are my close, supportive and loving family; my faith; good friends, mentors and teachers and hard work.

    What would you consider your strong suit to be – whether skills or qualities?
    My strong suit includes my willingness to serve others, my ability to listen and my creativity.

    How has Triton College impacted your life?
    Triton College was a great place to start my post-high school education. The teachers, friends and environment were superb.

    What advice would you give someone who would like to pursue a career in your field?
    The advice I would give to someone interested in my field would be to learn; grow in wisdom, honesty and communication; determine if it is what you really want and to be ready to work very hard in school and for your entire career.

    What are your words of wisdom for current Triton students?
    My words of wisdom for current Triton students are to take advantage of the amazing opportunity of getting a Triton education—Triton is a place where equality and democracy are fostered giving equal opportunity to all regardless of background or finances. Work hard—it will pay off for you and for society. Enjoy each moment and make lifelong friends. Also, know and understand your own goals and values.

    What are your plans for the future?
    My plans for the future are to continue to grow personally and professionally and to continue to serve others.
